On June 25, 1530, several princes of Germany stood in front of Emperor Charles V in the imperial city of Augsburg. At great risk to their positions, property, and lives, they presented the Emperor with a Confession of Faith. In this confession, they presented the teachings of Scripture as they were believed, taught and confessed in their territories. Churches, pastors, and people who shared this confession later became known as "Lutheran." This confession became known as the Augsburg Confession. To this day, this statement of faith remains the chief confession of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Therefore, it serves as the chief confession of Lutheran congregations, and people who call themselves Lutheran.

Beginning September 18th, we will study the Augsburg Confession in our Sunday morning Bible Class. Even if you do not currently attend Bible Class, please consider making plans to join us for this important study. If you have a copy of the Lutheran Confessions, you can bring it along with you. We will also have copies of the Augsburg Confession available for you at church.

WELSSA is recognized by the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA) and the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC).

We offer enrollment for kindergarten through 8th grade in several multi-age classrooms. We welcome the opportunity to serve students as mid-year or military transfers.

Visiting Trinity

Divine Service
At the center of our life together is the Divine Service of Jesus Christ. Our Sunday service is a weekly remembrance and celebration of Jesus' victory over sin, death and the devil through his death and resurrection. We also gather for other times of daily prayer, such as our Wednesday Matins service and evening services during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

We are a liturgical church. That means we follow the ancient forms of worship used by Christians for thousands of years. We follow these forms because they are an excellent way for us to focus our worship on the center of our faith—Jesus Christ.

We understand that some of these forms may be unfamiliar to some of our guests. But we welcome you to visit, watch and listen. Also, feel free to ask questions—the pastor and the ushers stand ready to give directions and answer questions.

Our services are open to all people—members and visitors alike. People of all ages are also welcome to attend. Parents with small children do not need to feel uncomfortable about bringing their children to church. Jesus wants the little children to hear his Word too. If parents feel their children's crying is disrupting others worshipers, a nursery located in the back of the church blocks out unwanted noise while allowing parents and children to still hear and see the service.

For more information about our teachings, please speak with our pastor, or visit one of our services or Bible classes. Several times a year, Pastor conducts a Bible information Class that serves as an introduction to Lutheran Christianity and provides a way for those who wish to join our congregation.

You can also learn more about Lutheranism in the books listed on the left side of this page.

History
Trinity was the first WELS congregation started in the El Paso area, when it began in 1969. During that time it has been served by seven pastors. In 1985 the congregation decided to open a Lutheran Elementary School, which has served hundreds of students over the course of the past twenty-five years. Our current location and facilities on Hondo Pass have been our home since 1991.
